With volcanic ash hanging over much of Europe, the Kawartha Komets took advantage of the atmospheric conditions to defeat the Grandravine Tornadoes in the final game of our SHI hockey tournament in Orangeville, Ontario. The Komets won a hard-fought battle against our rivals, squeaking out a 3-2 victory before hundreds of fans.
On Friday we defeated the Kitchener Rangers handily after losing out to the Michigan Far Flyers in Thursday's opening game.
The kids on the Komets had a great weekend and now it's time to "head for home".
Go Komets Go!
P. S. One of the teams in the tournament, the London (England) Werewolves will be detained in Canada awaiting better flying conditions. Some of the players we spoke with didn't seem too upset that they would have to miss more school while waiting for the volcanic ash to dissipate. Check out their web site here.
