Plans are being finalized for one of the biggest hockey weekends ever to hit Peterborough. Hockey Day in Canada takes place on Saturday, February 9th, 2013 at several venues.
The Under the Lock Tournament takes place on the Trent Canal under the Lift Locks on Saturday and the Jack McGee Kawartha Komets will be participating. Details later. Don Cherry and Ron MacLean from CBC's Hockey Night in Canada will be broadcasting from the canal.
On Friday, February 8th, 2013 a banquet will take place at the Peterborough Memorial Centre featuring Hockey Night in Canada personalities and NHL Alumni players. And, surprise, surprise, I have been asked to participate by saying "Thank You" for the meal. Proceeds from the banquet will go to the Kawartha Blazers Sledge Hockey program and the Jack McGee Kawartha Komets. The banquet has already SOLD OUT according to reports.
We're grateful for every opportunity we have to promote our hockey program to the general public.
